Mission
At Third Defense, we believe the greatest challenge in IT and information security is not a lack of technology or resources, but inadequate maturity and automation of key processes. Our mission is to empower leaders by improving and standardizing how teams and programs are managed. Success is accomplished when teams are focused on execution because operations and services are defined and measured with clearly demonstrated value to the business.
The majority of our careers have been working for or consulting with companies, and it is time to standardize and share our experiences. We find helping teams manage risk and communicate their value to the business to be incredibly rewarding.
Leadership Team
Jared Pfost
CEO & Co-Founder
Jared brings 15 years of information security experience to Third Defense. Jared's unique career combines working in IT Security teams and consulting with designing and shipping security software in startups and Microsoft. Jared is a self-proclaimed process nut and has demonstrated you don't need unlimited resources to run a measurable, accountable, and effective security shop. Jared previously worked at Washington Mutual, managing the security architecture, business security officers, and risk management teams. Previous experiences include VP Product Development & Strategy at BioPassword (now Admit One Security), 6 years at Microsoft corp in audit, corporate information security, and software program management roles. During the bubble years Jared was a Program Manager at Asta Networks and way back when a consultant for Arthur Andersen. Jared holds a bachelors in information systems and finance from the University of Washington.
Jonathan Landis
VP Product Development & Co-Founder
Jon's experience combines working in Enterprise IT Security shops and numerous security consulting engagements. Early on, Jon's specialties were security research, coding practices, and attack and penetration assessments. Self taught across multiple development languages and platforms, Jon brings a passion for open software standards and cross platform compatibility.
With Third Defense, Jon now builds software instead of breaking it! Jon combines his masters in mathematics (University of Washington) with a customer focused development style to simplify complex workflow into easy to understand elements for us mere mortals.
